Built to go the distance.

Custom software, website work, and special projects — from an engineer who has been shipping production software since 1984.

What we do

Software, built by someone who's shipped it for 40 years.

A small, senior practice — no account managers, no hand-offs. You work directly with the engineer building your project.

Software Development

Full-stack product development, prototype to production — modern web apps, APIs, data, and the unglamorous plumbing that keeps them reliable.

Website Work

Fast, clean, hand-built sites that load quickly and read well on every device — no bloated page-builders, no template sprawl.

Custom & Special Projects

The one-off, the integration nobody else will touch, the gnarly problem that doesn't fit a template. Special projects are the specialty.

Quick Prototyping

A working proof-of-concept, fast — so you can see, test, and validate the idea before committing to a full build.

AI Solutions

LLM-powered features, chatbots, and document/data extraction — practical AI wired into real workflows, not hype.

Spreadsheets & Excel

Complex workbooks, formulas, macros, and dashboards — turning messy spreadsheets into reliable, automated tools.

Databases

Schema design, queries, migrations, and reporting — from Postgres to cleaning up and making sense of your data.

About

Four decades of shipping software.

Mark Fugel has been building software since 1984 — four decades of production work across industries, following early-career engineering roles at employers including AT&T and 3M.

MilePost Labs is his independent practice, focused on the projects most shops won't take on: the gnarly integration, the idea that needs a working prototype before it needs a team, the system that has to actually hold up in the real world.

Deep experience, a direct working relationship, and software built to go the distance.
